an apology is in order

Ive been wanting to say this for awhile.....about a year ago when I joined , I started a thread " Done with American cars as a daily driver " ....at that time in life , me and my family was a hair from not having a place to live , because the 2001 Chrysler van we own cost me about $7000.00 in the span of three years , and to my discovery...our 2001 Z24 Cavalier seemed like it was also gonna be a dud .....I should of thought a little more about the wording of that thread I started , so it shouldnt be a big surprise that I ruffled some feathers saying what I did.....among the arguements that it started , I said a few things that were out of line in retaliation to the likes of Joe , Made In USA , and others........I realize how dumb that was , and that I took things to heart , when all these guys were trying to do is protecting our heritage....I hope that I can be forgivin for this and I wish everyone a good Easter

No need to apologize. Hope things are going better for you and your family. Many of us have been in the same type of situation before in life, and sometimes things are said, that weren't meant. Do have a good easter.

Happy Easter to you to.
I know the members of this community can appreciate hearing the other side of the story. While I can't speak for them, I have been in your shoes to with my 98 and have almost been to the breaking point to. I sure hope you were able to resolve your issues; and I'm sure the guys at CO will understand.

FWIW my daily driver is now a Hyundai, and no, I'm not stirring the pot. It's just what I decided to buy given the $$, service and warranty available. Maybe someday I'll buy another GM. Cross that bridge when we come to it.

I personally was not offended, and I hope all is well with you and your family this Easter. We all have our moments.

Hey oldsguybry: It's understandable. No problem.

As for Allan R... You just stirred the pot!

...and you call yourself a Canadian? How dare you? We make an excellent minivan in Windsor. May I build one especially for you?
If a minivan is not in your future, my Italian friends in Mexico could build you a Fiat 500! Or... how about some cement shoes?

Sorry. Yes, I am Canadian - for which I will apologize to no one.
No thanks on the minivan or the cement shoes. Maybe a nice truck though....I lean toward Ford for trucks.
BTW, my Sonata was built in the USA

I think you apology is accepted by all but certainly not necesary. Times are tough when you get your back against the wall and unfortunately there are a lots of folks in that situation now. A lot of us have been there. I am glad you worked you way through it and hope things continue to improve. Hope you and your family had a Happy Easter.

Besides, what's the internet for, if not for arguing about silly stuff?

If we couldn't look forward to the occasional barn-burner here, we'd probably be picking fights with the spouse and rubbing the bumps on our heads from where the frying pan hit us.

No problem, no offense taken. Everyone has an opinion, and sometimes things can get heated. Have a great Easter everyone.

Although the apology probably wasn't necessary, it is appreciated. It also shows a lot of character on your part. Hope things are better for you and your family and I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Easter.

Happy Easter.

Don't remember the instance you're talking about. Then again, I come here to
just entertain myself randomly while at work for 12 hours in front of a PC.

I hope you've relieved yourself of the troublesome Chrysler product.
Best wishes for you and your family. Don't be fooled by the "Buy American"
campaigns anymore. It's not 1970 anymore and next to nothing is made
here anymore. Even OER replacement parts for classics aren't.

Buy what is the best product for your money regardless of
who makes it. That's what you gotta look out for these days, yourself.

I'm with Allan R, I have a Lexus for a DD.
My wife drives a Isuzu Ascender , which is just a rebadged GMC Envoy.

apology

Aceshigh is right. It is hard to find products made in the USA. But I try to as much as I can. I worked in a steel mill for 33 years and in 1975 I was out of work for 22 months because of steel imports. So I guess I have a bad taste in my mouth about some car makers and other products. In this day and age technology has come a long way. It is just your preference on what you want to buy. Nobody is right and nobody is wrong. It's your money, spend it the way you want to. Also Happy Easter.

We all have bad days. My dd now is a Ram 2500 diesel that will be paid off in 4 months. I'm going to get a Jetta wagon diesel for dd duty/parts hauler and leave the truck for trailer duty.

If you need any advice on a Jetta TDI or any other VW, feel free to hit me up. I've driven almost exclusively VW's for the last 15 years as my DD/beater/racer/whatever. I've owned a few dozen. I almost pulled the trigger to buy a 1.8T Jetta wagon here recently, but a ford escape fell in my lap at half the cost, so I bought that as the DD for a while. It replaced a VERY worn out 96 Audi A6.

Just recently I REALLY have the urge to get a nice big chunk of Olds iron under my right foot again while the economy is so soft and I can afford one.

Apology accepted. It takes more than that to offend me though...This is what makes this forum such a cool thing. I have seen things get a little heated but never too bad. The fact that we have a member who apologized is very cool. This is why I think CO is one of the best sites out there.

There must be something about Olds owners being more understanding, caring, and all that other stuff. So! Who wants to sing Kumbiah! (probably not spelled right...)
