Anyone use Brothers auto?

Hey guy's anyone use BAP???
Alittle dissapointed in some of the parts i bought.
I figured i give them a try i use Fusick most the time
the tail light gaskets were thin they do not seal the lens.
And the door handles one of the buttons is off center so the button is crooked? Wth they were good to send me a new door handles and refund gaskets.

You will find plenty of people on this site and many previous threads here that will caution you to never do business with BAP. Someone once said in a post about them that "Crazier people have never lived". I concur.

More info for you

This is an old topic and lots of opinions. Here's a link to what others have said about BAP. I have dealt with BAP before and have encountered terrible customer service, shipping and rip-off promises that were never delivered.

This thread also has some recommendations about more reputable suppliers.

I had the attorney general from Missouri help me settle my dealings with Steve, it wasn't about the money it became the principle toward the end. All of it could have been avoided had he refunded the money when he said he would after the part went on terminal backorder. It was resolved but not until I had to take extreme measures.
Only took me more than 6 months to get my $36.00 back.

If I'd only known - he owes me exactly that amount too! He over billed me on shipping 2x and then said I was a terrorist threatening his way of life when I asked for the overpayment to be refunded. He refused so I asked for an in-store credit. He told me that my welcome was worn out and not to bother calling back. He further said they've bent over backwards trying to resolve this with me. What a laugh that was - I got put on ignore so many times dealing with them I just gave up. So I have no hesitation what so ever bad mouthing him or his business. He was rude and obnoxious and I'll remember that forever.

Never again. Ordered bunch of stuff for my '66, waited a few weeks then called. First they were apologetic, then it fell through the cracks then said they would call back. Never did. My weekly calls soon turned into daily calls which then were ignored. Last call almost 2 months later was if they don't call me back, I'm calling my cc and disputing it. No call. Did research to which is how found this place and other Olds folks they screwed so I posted my story. 2 years later they started calling me at 4am, leaving voice messages saying they were gonna sue me that this never happened, was gonna make a man out of me, change my life as I know it and other things, on my voice mail mind you. I promptly turned this over to the local pd along with all the documentation. Calls stopped and no lawsuit. I keep EVERY piece of documentation until the deal is closed.

You're one of the very few who have encountered this. Lucky for you. They're 'gladly refunding' your $$? Let's see how long it takes to get to you.

I was very fortunate to get my parts (interior seat skins and bucket seat bottoms and backs) It was a large (to me) order. After about three months on b/o it finally came in. My recommendation on BAP is run away quickly. There are much better Olds vendors to support. Customer service < 0 by my experience.

For years I stayed away on the advice of others, until the one time they had something I couldn't resist and gave them a try. Sure enough I got screwed.. Never again! On the other hand I have had great success with Fusick. They have been great..

On my current resto, I have calculated I could have saved about 225.00 net on parts I got from somewhere else that BAP lists at a better price, but not ONE F'ing penny to them - ever again.

We have all been good about posting positive feedback regarding our own in the seller feedback. Perhaps we should put in some negative feedback when using companies that consistently give bad service. Everyone knows that you can have something go wrong somewhere but maybe consensus will get some of these vendors who are repeat offenders.

How about...say poor performing companies in the last 2-3 years? Anything outside of 5+ years may not be a fair assessment and if the company made good on the product then they may not be a candidate for a bad review. Also personal experience only, not 'my uncle Buck had a problem.'

Thoughts?

I worked with Brothers Automotive over a period of 3 years with no hassle. I tried to show that I had a very good positive experience with Brothers -- It may be that I was lucky. It may be the year of car I was working on. It may be I was nicer than other folks. I do not know.

What I do know is my opinion was tossed in the toilet just because it didnt conform to the other opinion voiced. It was painfully obvious all those people wanted to do was put me and my opinion down. And THAT fired me up. So to all of you who feel that way, stuff it. I had a good experience, followed by good Customer Service and I wanted to pass that along to a fellow enthusiast. And all you folks wanted to do is push me away.

No, you took a Facebook thread which was about Fusick's new warehouse, and you made a wise assed comment about there being a Goat in the house. Then you proceeded to say they don't carry everything for Olds with a "Nope" comment without giving any explanation. Then you brought Brothers into the thread and then posted a link to their website. I don't know what your problem us with Fusick but you should probably let us all know so we can consider it when we make Olds related purchases.

Everyone has their favorite places for parts. Everyone has their opinions. I'm glad you had a good experience with Brothers. There are pros and cons to most vendors. Fusick charges more than most of the other competitors but I still use them because their customer service is great.

I need to answer these step by step because obviously you assumed I hijacked something that, in fact, I did not.

One:
You took a Facebook thread which was about Fusick's new warehouse, and you made a wise assed comment about there being a Goat in the house.

Yes, I made that statement. What you failed to notice was in three of their photographs of the new warehouse, UNDERNEATH the Olds sign, was a 67 GTO and THAT was why I wanted the place fumigated.

Two:
Then you proceeded to say they don't carry everything for Olds with a "Nope" comment without giving any explanation.

Yes, I said that and its true, they do not. However, the Nope that you referred to was to Raemon Ross's question of Do they carry every part for every Olds and I just answered the question.

Three:
Then you brought Brothers into the thread and then posted a link to their website.

Yes, I did that. But I also posted that "Between Fusick and Brothers Automotive you should be able to get most -"

Now, I really dont know how this deteriorated into what it did but so be it.

I feel I have adequately explained my posts. I did not attack anyone or their posts. My posts were read with a different set of lenses and perceived as a slight when they were not.

I am sorry for the confusion but as you can see ASSUME can make an *** of U and ME

Wish you were closer, we could go have a beer!

Would not recommend ever buying anything from Brothers. I gave them a shot, they screwed me on a vinyl top last year. I learned my lesson. Fusick and OPGI are the only ones I trust now.

Bad deal at BAP

Over the years I have dealt with Brothers with no issues except for the last time about a year ago. They doubled a couple of items on the order and charged me for them. I just took it on the chin and crossed them off the list of vendors. BEWARE, most likely at some point they will burn you. Ordered from THE PARTS PLACE recently and shipping charges appear to have gone through the roof. Beware there also.

Seeing how I am getting attacked on all sides because I am the ONLY person on the planet that had a GOOD experience with Brothers Automotive I will not offer their site to anyone else. I was just trying to give options to someone who asked.

That said

I will close the book on the silliness that has happened.

Until fairly recently, I lived within a mile or so of BAP's "wraehouse" I'm goingto say right up fron that I have never had any bad service from them but I also haven't purchased from them in many years. Their faacility is a SMALL storefront (one of three in the buildiing if I recall correctly). There is absolutely no signage of any kind on the building noting their presence and you can see absolutely nothing through the windows. It is my personal opinion that they stock absoluteky nothing and drop ship most of their orders from other suppliers.

The only presence I have ever seen there, even after numerous visits, was the occasional sight of an Oldsmobile parked either in front of, or moer often, behind the building. They seem to like '70 to '72 Cutlass convertibles as I have seen multiple examples come and go.

If you get them on phone and ask they will tell you that they do both high end restorations and have cars for sale. I tried multiple times to make arrangements to look ast their restoration facility and was very interested in buying a car from them. Something always "came up" and they weren't ever available when I was. I finally gave up and bought a car elsewhere.

Despite my proximity to their location I never bought anything from them while I lived there and certainly would not do so going forward.

Just my personal opinion/experience

And that's a good thing for you. There is a lot of controversy about BAP on this site, same as Billions and Trillions. You're right that there are going to be varying opinions, but the ones that get posted with reasons that justify the comments should be taken seriously. Possibly you're luckier than most because of your past affiliation with BAP. Do they have all the Olds parts? No. But neither does everyone else, so it's a shopping game, sometimes by trial/error. I believe in giving a vendor a fair chance so I bought from BAP in the past and tried very hard to work with them instead of against them. On both purchases I made from them I ended up on the short end of the stick. I got my parts, but was grossly overcharged on shipping, which they even admitted to. Read this and you'll understand why I won't recommend them to anyone. It's not about the parts, it's about the service.

I believe ya guys, really -- It might be just because the guy I work with there hit it off decently years ago and ever since then I always ask for same guy, so I dont confuse myself <wink> --

Thanks everyone for the input although I am somewhat irritated that I bore the brunt of your frustrations that some of you had with BAP because I didnt share them.

I thought you were done with this? You have guys who had bad experiences with BAP and you took up the fight, what do you expect? I know Steve and I have never done any business with him because I have a sweetheart deal with another vendor. All you can base it on is the actual experiences guys have had and if you had good ones, that's great for you. You can try to convince guys that they are wrong about them but your wasting your time. My advice would be to tell as you have that you have got good service and leave it @ that. Otherwise get your big boy pants on and have @ it.
