Anyone have Grundy insurance?

I received a quote from Grundy and they are $35 less on my 1970 CS compared to Haggerty!
I also received a quote for my 2004 Alero GLS used as much as my CS about 400-500 miles/year and it came to 1/3 of my Allstate policy with no deductable compared to $500 coll. and $50 comp.

Are they good or bad? Your comments are appreciated.

I haven't heard any real horror stories about any of the major collector car insurers, but I also know only a few people who've ever had a claim.

My Pontiac bud has Grundy, but his wife is an insurance agent and she wrote it thru her agency. I think he's had one towing claim when a water pump crapped out late at night coming back from a cruise night about 60 miles from home, and didn't get any grief over it.

Are you saying Grundy will insure your Alero under a collector policy also?

I have had Grundy for the last 3 years. Their rates are good, I did compare them to Hagerty too and they were a little cheaper. Never had to file a claim so I can't comment on how good they are when you put one in.

They are now underwritten by the Philadelphia Insurnace Companies as the original owner sold it to them.

They are probably underwriting that through the parent company and not the collector's policy.

I have Grundy and have had a substantial claim with or through them this year and they were great! No interrogation or anyone questioning the incident other than where was I going with the car when the accident happened, probably less of a hassle than I have had with AAA in the past. They keep me up to date on progress of the repairs almost to a fault as my repair shop also would give me the same updates first then my Grundy agent would follow up that report followed up by the someone at the head office, but more is better than less. Cost me nothing for over $6000 in repairs, I would recommend them if your undecided......Tedd

It may not be a collector style since they do commercial and business fleets also. But if I am reading the quote right they are stating the same deductable as my 70CS, as far as the money, it's a no brainer! I also gave them a agreed value of $10k and have a bill in hand for both rigs.

If true, I won't have to force myself to drive the Alero 100 miles per month, due to regular policy 4 months= $232+$141 storage coverage for rest of the year. Full year full coverage over $900, hard to justify that number!

Add to that total a 2010 and 2011 car and SUV under full coverage it's hits the pocketbook pretty hard! FYI Alero purchased new 11-2003 now has only 5050 mi on the clock.

I've had Grundy on my 77' pace car for years with no problems, and really think it's important to have agreed value on an older car, as really no bickering if the car is totaled or stollen. They also included an 01' Corvette, but under the same collector conditions. I needed to show them I had a regularly insured daily car. Grundy does do regular daily car insurance now, but don't no much about it.

Hagerty has better customer service, a roadside assistance plan, and other perks.

I switched from Grundy after 20 years.

Only car I currently have insured with Grundy now is my Olds with $19K agreed value. Yearly premium is $195 bucks total. Hear their customer service has declined a bit lately, since a carrier change, but might be better now. Haven't had to talk with anyone there lately, as just pay the annual premium bill they send me. For road service, just use AAA for $50 bucks a year. Don't even use AAA insurance anymore, just the road service, for any car I'm driving. Get free maps and tour books from the office near me too.

Are they only quoting you for two cars? It seems their multi-vehicle policy requires 3 cars...

At this point, there is no need for multi-unit discount! I just wanted something cheaper than $900+ a year when I only drive the Alero 400-500 miles per year.

No body else in the collector market would touch it! It's not exotic or sports or 20+ years old.

Grundy will insure any thing now. Car boat motorcycle RV and probably a lot more. Daily drivers included. Any year.

I don't think they will insure a dd. But I'll try again.

Perhaps I should create a separate thread...I may be hijacking this subject but since different ins. companies are now being discussed here goes. My other classic is a '71 Buick Centurion convertible. I have ins. on it with Allstate who I've been with over 30 years. However they and all the other classic car insurers will not give me 'Classic Car' insurance since I tow our '66 Airstream with it. I am buying a '69 Olds 98 and will tow with it also. Can any of you good folks suggest an insurance company that will insure my cars and perhaps my Airstream too? I've tried the companies that I've heard of. A few including Hagerty and maybe Grundy said 'yes' only IF I am towing the vintage trailer to car/trailer shows. We do that when the combo is welcome but we also travel and camp too.

Will Grundy pay for it in full if you wreck it along with the car? If memory serves when purchasing a trailer for the R.E. Olds chapter that most regular auto insurance companies will only cover $2000-2500 of the trailer and the rest is yours.

Also, if memory serves that your homeowners ins. cover trailers.

Haggerty tells me that they partner with my ins. co, Allstate. They suggest that the Airstream could remain with Allstate and insure the car with Haggerty......but only to/from car shows.....
