His production figures don't agree with the figures in Setting the Pace.

At the end of this listing, he states a correction that the car is a Cutlass Sports Coupe, not a Club Coupe. Production of Cutlass Sports Coupes totaled 26,441 in 1965, not the 5,713 figure he gives.

Also, he states how many came with an automatic transmission. Everything I've ever heard states that production figures down to this level of detail don't exist for Oldsmobiles of this era.

This was his response:

Im sorry you seem to be mistaken. There were a total of 25003 442s built in 1965. 1087 F-85 Club Coupes, very stripped down, 3468 convertibles, 5713 Sport Coupes, 14735 Holiday coupes for a total production of 25003. Of the 5713 Sport Coupes 2262 were automatic, 3164 were 4 speed and 287 were 3 speed.Check out musclecarfacts.net or 442 bro.com for info.Trans code is clearly stated on data plate. Check it out on 442bro.com Have a nice day!!

I got that response, too. The website he gives, musclecarfacts.net, does give the production information he gives. I don't know where that site gets it. You would think if it were available, it would have been included in Setting the Pace, but I don't know. It doesn't surprise me, though, that the great interest in the 442 over the years hasn't resulted in some effort to come up with more exact production figures for the various versions of it.

Just sold the same car, Maize Yellow/Black, P/S - P/B - console, for $19,500.
We kept ours pure stock, as to not 'limit' our market!
55 yr old woman bought it, as it was 'just like the one my brother gave me'!
As said in the used car business, 'there's an a$$ for every seat'!
