All American Classics in Vancouver, WA

Has anyone been there recently? I was planning on making a trip but wanted to check and see if it was worth the 4hr drive. They show quite a few 69 cutlasses on there web site but there may not be much left of them by now.

Also, how are they to deal with.

if youre looking for a car,im sure you'd be better off dealing with a private party

they are a consignment lot anyway.

Not looking for a car. Just parts for mine. They are a wrecking yard for 1930's - 1980's cars.

Are we talking about the same place?

They have had the same cars there for years and they have been picked over or rusted out. If you do find something be prepared to pay BJ prices, even if the quality of the part is not that good.

I went there a couple of times about 4 years ago. Their parts are pricey. I wanted an unmolested gas tank for my '68 4-4-2 and found a great one in a '68 Cutlass for $100. Unfortunately, I couldn't take it out - their lot guy had to do it and, when he did, he just let the tank drop after removing the straps and it bent the feed tube that goes into the tank.

They did let us roam the lot by ourselves, which was nice. There were a number of cars that we looked at closely, but I only found the one good gas tank which they promptly messed up. If you go and find something you want, make sure you watch the yard man closely so he doesn't mess up your part while removing it.

Don't go there on Mondays; they are closed. I found that out the hard way on my first trip there (about a 2 hour drive for me). I don't know whether or not they are open on weekends.

Other than the gas tank issue, my experience there was OK.

Negative. Its actually near impossible not to trip over one of your "pearls" in these forums. No need to seek them out. But hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day...I'm sure your time is coming.

I was there about 2-3 years ago. Not much left except stripped carcasses to pick through for Olds. I recall seeing a 70 Cutlass/442 fender laying on the ground that was pretty rough, but that's about it.

I've bought a couple of things from them for my Cutlass over the years. They're okay to deal with, but pretty pricey. If you are 4hr. away you should call them and tell them what you are looking for. They are usually able to tell you if they have it.
