I think this is the elbow that goes on the air cleaner base on the driver side for a 70 442. is this it?

Not quite. It will work, but will not look completely correct. The clocking angle of the inside opening relative to the outer elbow is a little different. This application is for the 1980s-up 307s primarily. Fusick lists the correct one for your 1970 under P/N VC17 for only a couple of bucks more than this Dorman part.
