After all these years my DD is an Olds

After all these years I traded my 2000 blazer even up for a 2002 Bravada that needs a little driveline work. I realized after I got it that I've owned more Oldsmobiles then I can remember but almost none of them were daily drivers. ~BOB

I had a 2002 Bravada that I leased back some time ago, I liked it very much.

Bob, that Indigo blue was 2002 only color!

Don't both have the 4.3
Vortech V6-'s in them?
Bravada with rockets on
the valve covers?

Still a nice trade-up.
The Olds has more whistles,
and is probably more comfy, yes?

Bravada comes with a 4.2 strait six. It's a lot more comfy than the Blazer. plus a lot more room. The Blszer and the Bravada are both Indigo blue with silver pinstripes, so when I traded, my non-carperson friends didn't even notice. All they saw was a dark blue SUV. When I picked up my girls at the bus stop, my youngest thought I had changed the seats in my car. It took her a momet before she realized it was a different car. ~BOB

I had an Olds as a DD last fall for about 3000 miles. First time since about 1984. Wife has had three Olds DD's over the years, currently driving an Alero.

2002 was 270HP and 275 there after! Still end statment would be correct, very quiet and strong motor. I still disliked changing the oil on the engine, due to the skid plate cover had small door to access the filter so every thing comes right at your arm. And the 7 quarts of oil is a bite in the rear also.

I could've sworn that it was rated 290 hp. Im going to see it in the morning too dark outside and its raining. One thing I hate about my Bravada is when you step on the pedal to pass somebody there's a slight delay for the passing gear to kick in. Plus it sucks a lot of gas when you use the passing gear.
I agree with you about changing the oil. I use the access hole where the tie rod goes thru and stick my arm in there to get to the filter.

Yes, I forgot about the lag when slamming to the floor! I believe that GM's first attempt for every day rigs throttle by wire. Which is all but common place now.

I get in the Alero and it's old school throttle cable style, it seems to have a heavy feel, even when comparing it to the 70 CS.

Here is a 2004 brochure for Bravada.

Its even worst when you have your A/C on and you want to pass somebody, it takes even longer. So when I want to pass somebody I have to turn the A/C off, pass the guy and then turn it back on when Im in front of the guy. One thing I cant complain about the A/C is, its too damn cold.

How is the performance of the A/C on really hot days when you get out from work? I used to turn mine on and then open the rear door and punch the back seat A/C control to get it somewhat cool down!

I also had an Envoy SLT with a few more options i.e. bose/XM radio and 6 disc changer, still had the same issue with the A/C.

I had S-10 extended cabs or standard, turn on the A/C on those buggers and you could hang meat.

Bob, I think its cool to have an Olds as a DD. Nice to be an individual and not have it be another me too product. If I found a nice condition and well cared for late model Olds, I would probably do the same too. I love my truck, but the gas mileage isn't the best.

My DD is a 2002 Bravada which I have owned since new. It has 225,000km and had minimal problems with it. In a few years I wouldn't hesitate buying a 2004 Bravada or Aurora if I could find one in real nice shape. I think they were pretty decent GM vehicles at the time, for the money!

The performance of the A/C is really good. Before i leave to go to work, i just crack all the windows open about an 1/2". I have the vent shades from GM Performance. I also have the front windshield cover. You wouldnt believe how much cooler the inside gets when you crack open the windows especially on a windy day. That helps too. After work I just open all the windows and the sunroof and blast the hot air away with the A/C on.
