A friend has agreed to let my '66 Toro take up temporary residence at his place while I look for storage options.
Hadn't driven (nor seen) the car for 15 years while it's been under cover in its current storage unit.
Other than four flat tires, which I've since managed to inflate (in relatively tight quarters), the car looks pretty good.
I'm about to embark on the restoration of my '72 H/O. In the meantime, I'll gradually try to get the Toro into safe running condition again.
I've owned it since 1981.
In its prime:
It had the silver argent wheels. Obviously I had them painted to match the body color. It's a numbers-matching car, so maybe that wasn't a wise decision. But I love the look.
If it had chrome wheels I wouldn't have done it.
Not to be a negative nanny, but do you think you will get to it? Sat for 15 years, and you are starting another build on another car. It's your car, do with it what you want, but I wouldn't want to see another one fall into the,I'm gonna restore it some day syndrome..... Tedd
man. looking at the color, on that car, is so much different than looking at that color on this 4 door 66 f85 that i have. i just looked up the color tonight. nice looking car you have for sure
Tedd,
I understand and appreciate your concern. Your input on CO over the years has been a good resource for my various projects.
The '72 H/O won't require an extensive rebuild and should be finished this year.
The Toro has been restored since I've owned it. I believe it can be brought "back to (operational) life" in relatively short order.
Some of this work can be done simultaneously with the H/O project.
You have a great memory. I recently/coincidentally ran across this photo from that event. Many moons ago. In fact, I'm not exactly sure when it was.
Based on the showroom photo, my guess would’ve been 1966!!😀. Probably likely more like’03 though. I think the following year was when you had brought the unmarked ‘72 Hurst. Good times…damn, I don’t FEEL that old!!😀
Moved to its temporary new digs yesterday. Was nice to see it outside after so long.
Found a few items needing attention (aside from getting it running again), that I'd not gotten to previously.
Restorer said it was better over all than he anticipated.
