Adding a/c to '70 w-30?
Adding A/C to a manual trans W-30 DEFINITELY diminishes the value and will constantly raise questions of authenticity, since the manual trans cam won't generate enough vacuum to operate it and thus it was not factory available.
Not that I'm aware of. You will have to locate all of the parts from a parts car or somebody who has them. The A/c hoses have been reproduced by Classic Auto Air in Florida. I used a set on a 68 A/C car and they were very nice. They also have repo condensers/evap cores, they rebuild POA/expansion valvers. They also offer a cleaning/checking for leaks on OEM parts. If I had a 70 W-30 and wanted to add A/C,no way do I go aftermarket. Is your car an auto or stick?
Im sorry it would be an automatic 1970 w-30

ok but then on the broadcast card there wouldnt be any mention of the code for an a/c?
If the A/C code is on an A/C car broadcast card and yours is not an A/C car, then no,it won't be. That is if you have the broadcast card for your car as you seem to imply. Best thing to do is not worry about adding A/C,just save yourself a lot of heartache and trouble and just sell me the car CHEAP.

Then, you need to change:
1. The kick panels, and add the vacuum assembly on the passenger side
2. The entire internal heater box and heater core
3. The heater controls
4. All of the interior duct work and vents
5. The water control valve on the engine
Plus all the stuff under the hood.
It is a major undertaking in time, money and labor.
If you could do it for less than $3K, I would be surprised.
This is what happens when you try to add factory A/C to a factory heat car! (See pic) the knuckle head I bought my car from advertised it as a factory A/C car. After doing some inspection (unfortunately after I bought the car) I noticed areas in the firewall that were open. Leading to my conclusion that it was a factory hear car. He had the correct vents, boxes, and controls, but it was non functional. So I decided to rip it all out and install a vintage air unit. But then again, I don't have a W-30.
That being said, if I was hard pressed to have A/C in my W-30 I would do a vintage air unit instead of a factory A/C unit. It's a hell of a lot cheaper, plus it's not permanent. If you keep all the original parts, you could remove the aftermarket A/C unit and bring it back to stock at any time. If it can be removed then I don't think it would hurt the value. But like I said, I dont have a W-30 so its easy for me to say. Just my opinion
