Add lead to premium gas ?

I have no particular problem with my 1967 Olds 98 but was looking for advise on whether it was helpful to add a lead additive to today's premium gas ? Are there any drawbacks to additive ?

The drawback is pollution from the exhaust. The benefit is increase in octane, and (maybe) valve lubrication.
