AC Delco has Lost It
I have to say that my last two purchases with AC Delco have been really disappointing.
The rebuilt starter looked good cosmetically, but was a worn out dirty mess inside. It was absolute crap.
The last AC Delco RapidFire spark plugs that I bought are no longer the platinum ones - they look just like regular plugs now.
A once solid brand is now outsourcing its' way to the bottom of the barrel.
No more AC Delco for me....

Bill Trovato told us in his recent book that the Wix is a better filter. Years ago I decided to never buy a new GM car since their mismanagement resulted in their decision to kill Oldsmobile, their oldest marque. Now I am hard pressed to find anything from GM worth buying.
I quit ACD when they started licensing the name to anything and everything. That and when the Gray Ghost wagon needed a radiator, the listing they had for the Diesel car was clearly meant for a gas version. And even though the GG was long converted to gasoline, I saw absolutely no reason to re-plumb all the trans cooler lines when their application data was clearly incorrect.
I got a correct Modine radiator cheaper anyway. About as cheap as having the original repaired- and I was tired of the same tank leaking in the same spot over and over, no matter who repaired it.
Precisely why my modern daily drivers are now solidly in the Ford camp. GM builds nothing that appeals to me. They can prattle all they want how their current products are the best vehicles they've ever made, but I cannot stand the exterior or interior styling, and I cannot get past the fact that everything is essentially Chevy-based.

Not too long ago, I purchased a set of AC Delco plug wires for one of my rides. When they arrived the box was clearly marked "Assembled in China." Somehow, I rather doubt the components were made in the U.S. and then shipped to China for assembly, and then returned here for sale!

.I use to like GM products but I think most of that was just a mind set being as though I grew up in the suburbs of Flint, where the closest dealer that was not GM was a 1/2 hour drive away. All of my current cars are GM's only because around here, the market is so saturated with them that they are very cheap to pick up, like my SS camaro, paid 10k for it with 18k miles on it as an example.
Ford I think has them beat. While I didn't like the fact that they got rid of Mercury, their current model line up is far ahead of GM in every aspect.
AC Delco/Champion use to be a proud products to buy until GM closed the door on the AC plants around here. There is truly nothing made by AC anymore, almost all of the AC stuff was made right here in Flint: plugs, starters, filters, alternators, and electronics. Now almost all of it is made by someone else, and they just slap the AC name on it. It is kind of sad. I quit buying the AC filters when I found out that they were basically Fram filters instead of wix filters.
The new oil filters are now made by a cheapo company that is very poor quality. The older filters were very high quality, and can still be found at your local parts store.
The new crappy filters can be identified by an "E" at the end of the part number (like PF61E, instead of PF61). E stands for "E-core", or economy core. I usually get the larger PF24 filters, and so far, I have not seen any new "E" versions of it.
Yes, the Wix and Purolators are two of the several best filters currently being produced.
