Ac charge connection

Ac charge connection

Does anyone have a picture of where you connect your AC Charge hose on a 1974 Cutlass Supreme..also can you use those new connectors they have now where you pull the coupler back and it snaps on

The snap-on connectors are for R134A refrigerant. Your R12 connectors are threaded screw-on type. This difference is specifically to prevent people from putting the wrong refrigerant in the system.

Ac connection

So my system can be 134 but have the connection still like the R12...my low pressure hose runs to the drier and it has two connectors

That is unlikely. Someone would have had to pointedly decide to NOT install the proper R134A fittings, then somehow charge the system with R134A.

It can't always be assumed that everything was done by the book. There are 134 adapters that screw onto R12 fittings. If the adapters are used, you're supposed to leave the 134 adapters on and put a sticker on the system to say its now charged with 134. I had a truck that we did that to, but the adapter leaked. The solution was to charge the system with 134, then remove the adapter quickly, so it wouldn't continue to leak. I never put the sticker on either. Someone looking at the truck would see R12 adapters and no sticker -- and would probably come to the conclusion that it was still charged with R12.
