77 Firebird Formula

Hello there,

Last year i purchased a 77 Pontiac Firebird Formula with a 6.6L 403 Olds and I did a re-gasket on the engine and a new timing chain. Additionally got long tubes and new cap/rotor and now I have a no start scenario. timed the engine 17* ish btdc and still wont run. Im open to suggestions and any ideas to trouble shoot what is going on.

How did you time it? Is the firing order wired ccw?

Does it have spark? Has it run since you swapped timing chains? Roll the engine to TDC on the number one cylinder, make sure the rotor is pointing to the number one spark plug wire

Olds distributors are counter clockwise. Check your firing order and rotation.

So it cranks but does not start? Does it crank hard or easy? Does it pop through the exhaust or the intake? Do you have 12 volts at the coil? What carb? Did you change the fuel filter?

the firing order is ccw adn i have a timing light and used the timing marks on the harmonic balancer by spinning the crankshaft over by hand and looking in cyl 1 for tdc then went back

Did you have your finger in the #1 spark plug hole? Might not be TDC like you think it is.
