72 Cutlass Supreme Fan Shroud

Is a 72 Cutlass Supreme, 350 4bbl no air car. supposed to have a fan shroud. Mine does not and I never really gave it much thought. I was under the impression that a no air car did not have a shroud. Does not have a fan clutch either. I dont have any issues but I want the car to as original as possible. Thanks.

I just read in another thread that it should not have a shroud unless it was equipped with A/C...

It also said that if the top plate does not have holes in it that a shroud would mount to and there are no raised tabs on the core support at the bottom then it is not set up for a shroud and should be correct.

Thanks for your help and advice. My car does not have the upper support as you have described so I believe my car is correct. Thanks again.

72 cutlass fan shroud

I took my Cutlass into an old hand that ran a radiator shop for overheating on hot days in stalled traffic. The cooling system tested good and he stated that the fan shroud was missing. He said that when the car is stationary, the fan pulls air from engine compartment as well as through the radiator. If there is a shroud in place, the fan pulls almost exclusively through the radiator which helps with the cooling. When the car is moving, the shroud is of little help. I am under the impression that all of them came with the shroud, whether they had A/C or not.

Only cars with AC, a 455 motor or heavy duty cooling option. ( 4 core radiator)

It might have a heavy duty cooling option. Does it have a 350. I think you could have a 455 no air and have heavy duty cooling.
