MAYDAY MAYDAY.............First off,,,, My A/c does not blow ice cold. I have replaced Compressor and hoses etc. everything under the hood I was told to replace. that's my first problem. But, beyond that, my A/c only blows out of the dash vent. Will not blow thru defrost. So I had a "SHADE TREE" mechanic to look at it and rig something whereas now it only blows thru the dash. Also the heat only comes thru the dash as well. Need Help!

 

It would help if you started by telling us year and model. Manual A/C or Temptronic?

 

My bad, I thought in the subject line I said 72 cutlass S.....I dont know what Temptronic is. I believe its Manual. We went back with stock. if that helps. Also I'm a newbie..and I know very little about cars.

 

You're right, sorry. Temptronic is the automatic A/C used on the full size cars.

In your case, control of where the air comes out of is vacuum operated. If the vacuum hoses are not connected properly, you'll get problems like this. You need to get a Chassis Service Manual and verify that all hoses are connected properly.

Ebay and periodically they show up in the parts for sale section here.

 

There are a bunch on ebay right now. Least expensive is about $30. Get a paper original, not a repro or CD, to avoid issues with lost pages, etc.
