72 cutlass door question

72 cutlass door question

On the drivers side indoor handle I got a lot of play in the handle.when its in the rest position.what could be the problem

I had that problem, too.
If lubing the entire release handle mechanism does not allow it to work better, then the inside release handle (circled in picture) needs replacement.
My drivers side had a broken return spring and was very worn and sloppy.
My pass side was better and lubing it helped it to return to the released position. However, since the mechanisms come in pairs, I replaced both.
OPG carries them at a decent price and they fit and function like new!

No problem - I like to pass on what I have learned, so you can get your car in top shape also!
Of course I am taking away some of the fun of doing all the research, trial and error, cussing, head scratching, etc......
