72 442

Ok need to know what a 72 442 should have? Would it have a posi or limited slip, cutoutbumper or regular, already has the 1 in stabilizer bars, OAI hood all of the badges, the vin shows a 350 car, I tried to sell as a 442 but the guy who wanted to buy it said it should have a posi, and a cut out bumper, any help out there? Phil,

The buyer is misinformed. In 1972, the 442 was demoted to an "appearance and handling" package available on four Cutlass and Supreme models. It was available with any engine available in those cars, including the 350 2bbl single exhaust driveline. No 350 cars ever got a cutout back bumper in 1972, so yes, most 72 442s did NOT come with the bumper. Posi (anti-spin in Olds-speak) was optional, not standard equipment. All 442s got the rear sway bar and boxed lower rear control arms.

Tell the buyer to do some research, specifically to review the description of the standard and optional equipment offered in the 1972 model year.
