71 VIN Tag

I just saw what is listed as a 71 W30 convertible on eBay. Didn't see any supporting docs so I'm skeptical. What really caught my eye though was the pic of the door mounted vin tag. I have never seen one with weight information on it before. Is this someone's imagination taking over or would there have been some purpose for this one being different?

Is that the VIN at the bottom portion?
I noticed the X and 72 came to mind right away not 71?

Looks like I was so fixated on the tag I missed a bunch if details. It's a 72 not a 71 and an x code at that. Score 1 for being a W30. The weights being on it still seems odd to me

Well, what I see is a repainted door and a repro VIN tag.

The way the VIN is listed is indicative of 1972 production, not 1971. Production date of 9/71 means it was a 1972 model. 3J67 is a vert Cutlass Supreme which was eligible for the W30 option.

Yes 1972 did put the axle weights onto the door sticker, but they were on the lower section of the door sticker.

As mentioned it looks like an aftermarket sticker, so the only real proof (without other authentic documentation) of the actual VIN tag on the lower front dash.
