The 70's...

Was the pea soup green color and green on green really as popular as it seems or is it just that most of the grandmother owned cars that didn't get used up, and are still around skewing the thought of that color being popular.?

Earth tones were big back them. Its amazing to look back how few silver cars there were back then. Now its prob half of cars sold. I saw a stat that 90% of car sales in the US are black, white, silver or gray.

I was at the lights the other day and counted eleven white cars in a row. I thought it was a convoy of some sort.

my Stafire and my 73 Starcraft tri-hull are "avocado". The wife won't let me redo the kitchen that color...yet.

My house's siding was that color when I bought it. What was worse was that it took us 5 years to save enough up to get the siding replaced. That was a very long 5 years.

In my earlier Oldsmobile years, I had a total of 4 1970 Toronados. 3 of them were the Ming Jade. The 4th was white. To this day I have to chuckle every time i see a green Toronado. At one point I began to think that might be the only color they came in.

Green was popular in the 70s. I liked the dark green metallics. Seems more color and maybe some chrome is coming back. More chrome accents and window trim, even seeing browns, green and reds, yellow has been back for a few years.

I like green,, like a mid to dark green metallic..
But most of the family cars no matter the make ,that members of the family owned were a pea soup green solid color.. most times with a darker green vinyl top, and same shade green interior..

Not sure if my distaste of the peasoup color is the color or the memories of eating the soup as a child..

My bedroom walls were that color as a child and I absolutely DETEST it. I am much more keen on blues of most any hue, and maybe an emerald green, but not that pea soup green.....nope.....no way.
If I had the most rare car on the planet and it was that color....hello, Maaco? (not really, but...)

I remember all the clear vinyl seat covers that were installed in these cars. Green variations were popular all the way through the 90's.
