'70 w30 thermostat housing

Were the 1970 W30 thermostat housings and lift hooks painted blue? The pictures I've seen it's about a 50/50 split. I prefer the natural color. I can't imagine why Olds would take the time to paint these pieces separately. Either way I'm just asking which is correct, painted or unpainted. Thanks.

They're painted because they will rust, front and center, on the engine. I wouldn't be surprised if the W engines got an iron manifold sat on them for paint for the block and thermostat, then switched to the aluminum after paint.

They were not painted on the 1970 W30 cars. while a little hard to see on this pic from the dealer training filmstrips the lift loop and thermostat housing appear raw and same goes for my low mile original car.
