70 Cutlass Supreme Value?
70 Cutlass Supreme Value?
Just wondering what you guys think would be a decent price on this 70 Cutlass Supreme. Guy says it has freshly rebuilt 350. Have not been able to go look at the car or get any more pics. Here is what I have so far.
Your opinions are appreciated!
Welcome to the site. Rebuilt engine can mean a lot of different things, since its been painted a non stock color I'll assume the worst. It would be worth around $2500-3k as it needs a complete resto.
As with anything the more you know the better informed decision you can make.
i agree w Eric its value is probably 2500-3000 based on what we can see. It looks fairly complete ( a big plus) and has some nice items like a dual gate shifter and the 70 only sport mirrors, the interior looks like it probably needs new seat covers and the engine bay would benefit from some love. We can see the paint is worn
You can check areas like the front and rear windshield for rust as well as the trunk and floorboards. If these areas are solid the car becomes more attractive as many have lots of rust in those areas.
i would look on craigslist for similar cars in your area and see what people are asking

I agree with Eric. It's a car to restore. Even with receipts the motor may need redone. Mine did. Try selling a freshly built motor to anyone. It's hard for them to believe or trust its done right. Why would the seller and rebuild the motor to sell the car? Treat it as a full restore and don't pay for a rebuild that for all we know consists of a few bearings and paint. Never underestimate the deceptive power of bondo either. When you look at it take a weak magnet and see if you find bondo. If the magnet sticks to your car that has no bondo but falls off the one your looking at it tells you there is rust. Also those cheap seat covers scream reopolster, that is never cheap.
It appears to be missing a lot of the underhood AC components.
I also noticed there are no fender emblems. This could mean new fenders were installed and the installer didn't bother drilling holes and installing the emblems, or it could mean bondo over rust areas.

Where the car is located will give some important clues as well. Just a long shot, but looking at the kuansan huts and terrain in the back round, Hawaii? Salt water will reek havoc on these cars. The fire wall looks pretty scally so give it a good look over. Take a careful look at the chassis, large scaling means reduced material on the chassis. Above all, if you do pick it up, please get rid of that Chevy puke orange and paint it Olds 350 gold.
