70 Cutlass Supreme - Center Hoold Molding

Hello - does anyone know where I can purchase a center hood molding (picture attached). I have checked OPGI/Classic Olds/Fusick and OldsParts and none of these shops carries this piece. I am in the process of finishing the body work on this car and the current molding is a pitted, if i can't purchase this piece any suggestion on how to bring the existing one to life? Thanks in advance!

Your existing one can be cleaned up with OOO steel wool and soap and water. I would think a classified ad in the parts wanted section can net you another.

Thanks - now if I clean it using steel wool, won't that cause the rest of the chrome to come off?

Considering that every single 1970 Cutlass still on the road now has a repro O.A.I. hood, there is no market for reproductions of that hood spear. Good used or rechrome are your only options.

It won't take any chrome of of a good part. If the chrome is coming off already it'll take some more off. You need to use very fine steel wool and it will smooth out some corrosion or pitting.

Those are very hard to find in nice condition. X2 on the 000 steal wool. Ron Memmer had an NOS one a while back. I would bet he has one or even a good used one. It won't be cheap...

I will be listing one for sale in the near future, along with the hood. As close to NOS as you will ever find, as it came off a 15,000 mile 1970 Supreme that was in climate controlled storage its entire life, and never even rained on. Will post on CO when for sale. Pick-up in MI or IL.
