70 cutlass "s" boxed control arm's factory???

70 cutlass "s" boxed control arm's factory???

Can anybody tell me if my car came with boxed control arms from the factory??? .
And is it possibly the motor could be original to the car i cannot find a build sheet or the numbers on the block by the front of the block on the pad .
it does have e heads and an f block.

Boxed lower control arms should have only come with "Heavy Duty Suspension" packages, which included a rear sway bar.

Look right here:



It's the only way to tell whether your engine is original.

any suggestions grind it wet etc...???

Well... Looks like you may have to take some things apart.

You need good access to the pad where the stamping is.

First I would recommend a good degreasing with lacquer thinner, mineral spirits, or similar.
Next, I would try a wire brush, preferably something powered, like a wire brush wheel on a drill, or on a Dremel MotoTool.
Once you have the grease and loose stuff off, you should be able to see it.
If not, you can use some fine sandpaper by hand to try to remove high spots and bring up the stamping.
Another possibility, once it's good and clean, is to do a pencil rubbing of it - sometimes you can't read it on the metal, but you can on the paper.

great advise as soon as i get the car back from the body shop i will get alittle more personal with that pad and hopfully find out that it is.
then i might be sorry i didnt go with the original color ooops!!!
that's ok. I'm going with agean aqua....
