‘70 Cutlass heater diverter with console attachment

As I’ve been finishing the last little details on this car, I noticed the heat diverter I have for console/ 8 track cars doesn’t have a screw attachment to the heater box. The assembly manual doesn’t seem to show this diverter anywhere. Is this just a snap in place part, or is there an attaching point that I’m missing?

I assume you are working on a 1970-1972 car? If so, I can't tell for sure but, it looks like you have a later year heat diverter.

Can someone please post photos of the lower heat vent and applicable diverter for a 70-72 Cutlass/442 with a console, tape deck, and column shift set-ups.

1970 through 1972 with console. Possibly older also?

Thanks Scott. Was the console heat diverter also used with tape deck equipped cars without a console?

Hmmm. If you don't have the weird diverter, the hot air just blows into the back of the 8 track....

Scott, the heater box I have is a slightly different shape than the one you showed here, I think. I'll grab a pic later from the other side of the diverter.

Of course. Mine is no AC. I can't get a pic from the other side for the life of me. Too tight. As I said, everything fits in place fine, and yes, this is my '70 Rallye. It just seems strange that there isn't a hole drilled somewhere for a screw or some other attachment for the diverter. I replaced the one that was there with this repro, and the fitment is identical. The original was broken and wasn't attached in any "permanent" fashion, either.

The diverter whether console or not is held in place by a 5/16th screw right in this area.
