70 AC Condenser

Getting ready to install the condenser and radiator back in the core support and I am wondering about the AC condenser, was it originally painted black or was it natural aluminum??

Hi Dave
All the old ones I've removed had at least some black paint on them. So I believe they were painted black from the factory. Hopefully someone who knows for sure will comment.

Paint

Thanks John, thats what I thought also, I think they thought, that like radiators the black helped the heat transfer process although that may not actually be the case. Black it will be though. Merry Cristmas to you and all our fellow Olds enthusiasts!!!!!

They had a very light coat of black on them but it often thinned and got sandblasted off through the miles.
Eastwood sells a radiator paint that is very thin to not obstruct cooling. I used a light fogging of that on the front side only, with no primer. I used just enough to make it look good from a few feet away.
