The needle is yellow.

I found that a yellow highlighter is a perfect match.

Changed the lens too.....came out MINT!

Well mine is white. It's probably 40 years of sun bleaching though.

Hey Paul, Happy New Year. Pretty soon there is not going to be anything left to do to that car of yours. I can tell you are looking for things. If you want I'll let you work on mine (plenty to do)

Rallye gage tac needle

ok, here is the one in my car. Sorry it's a little dark, but I had to lift the car cover to get the door open. Couldn't use flash or you wouldn't be able to see the gage right. BTW, i saw one recently on ebay with a red tach needle. I don't know if Olds ever made them that way, or someone might have redone it to match all the other gage needles. In any case, I know this gage is factory original and is correct for this car.

The Tachman has an original and restored and they're both yellow.

Maybe I should do those in the wagon?
Those underdash gauges are a little in the way with the humongo 8 track in the center now.

They're near the bottom of the page.

I don't have mine in front of me but look at all the other subtle (but to me) major differences in the images of the tachs on the left and the one below it. In all reality either one wouldn't matter to me because they both look good and only dorks like us would care but....

the line units on the upper image align on the top while the one on the lower image align behind the center piece with the numbers on it. Also the second hand is silver on one and black on the other and the clock type is reveresed out - I believe the bottom picture is the original one correct? If we are woriied about yellow vs light orange for the needle than the font/color and orientation of the clock should matter as well, no?

stevengerard?
The upper units are strictly for 68-69 Rallye pacs. They are in order: tic toc tach, speedminder speedo (that white line is the needle that's used for the speed setting warning buzzer, and the third one is the temp/oil/fuel gage.
The gages below are specifically the tic toc tac and the oil/temp/fuel . There's no speed shown on the lower units.

FYI, you cannot put 68/69 units into the 70-72 since they use a different pod and different pinsets on the back. Your thinking on your post is a little mixed up.

Ah, thanks for the clarification because I have the one on the lower set of images as I should - phew, just when I think I almost know what I am talking about I get all confused - its so much easier to buy a new car then you know what it came with. I did not know the 69's were different than the 70's I just thought they mounted differently.
