70-72 inner fender differences?

i have never noticed this before. when did they make the change? the one with some blue paint on it is originally from a November 69 build 70 W-30. i understand why they added it but didn't know any were made without it.

Eric,
Just a thought on this. Do they both have the same part number? And just for my enlightenment, why were they changed? Something to do with added rigidity? You got me curious so I just went and looked at my 72 inner liners. They have that ridge too.

it added rigidity like you mention. after i noticed the difference i looked at some others and some of the ones without it have started to sag a slight amount.

Funny you should say that. My replacement one for the PS has it, but is slightly sagging. I wonder if it will pull into shape when the bolts go into the fender and tighten it up.
