70 442 project
Here's some pics of the beater. I will be bringing it home sometime
this year. Any help with the decode would be appreciated. Has a
few goodies in it, and an a/c car.

Not really set in a plan with it yet Kev. It was cheap enough, so I made
a deal on it. I believe it has it's original 455 E head engine, and hopefully
it's OG code trans. Missing both bumpers and grille. 14" rallys, meh, Iv'e got some 15's.

Thanks Louis. Yeah I think it would make a sweet streeter. I have a back glass
and some door handles. I really am not fond of the green interior though.
I do have a black console, so I won't have to source a boat load of stuff for it, I hope.
Thanks pacekar, I thought so too! AM-FM eight track whoo hoo. Tilt on those years was so cool. No One really had it unless they were the larger boats.

Can't do it yet Kev. I need to get it home 1st to see what I have to work with.
I am seriously thinking about selling my convertible though. I have enjoyed it
for a few years, but it really is a cruiser. I am wanting a bruiser again...

Nice little project you found there. I guess the shoe polish warning on windshield didn't mean anything for you! lol Whats the story behind it? Have you known about it for awhile and kept checking in on if for sale? Or did you jsut come acroos it and ask if its for sale?

Ha ha, no, I was the one doing the scribbling. This is one of the many cars
that a friend of mine in Austin picked up somewhere North of Denton, just inside Oklahoma some damn where. Brought back 12 cars and parts. He has a 70 Supreme vert that is very straight with a 455. I took him a driveshaft for it today along with some nice
Offenhauser valve covers I got from Bill, (been there), that he wanted, sort of a down
payment you could say. I have no history except that all the cars came from the same
place, sold by one guy. I went over a few weeks back and helped him get a few running.
He told me to pick one, we would work something out. The 70 442 is the one I picked.

Sounds like you have a good friend! Well writing on the car is better than just pissing on it to mark your territory! haha I asked because my buddy in AL is a Cuda fan. He drives by one all the time that the owner lovingly leaves outside to become one with mother earth again and it has a big sign it saying not for sale or parts dont ask. I tell him when you have cash in hand go ask the owner anyway never know. I would have picked the 442 too!

Good looking project Adam, congrats...yup, you picked well my friend!

Ted, I saw that 1-70 date too. I was kinda hoping maybe Allan R.
might chime in with some decode for me. I hope I didn't **** him off
somewhere along the line. You Canadian boys are good folks in my book.
One of these days I hope to meet with some more of you fellas from CO.
I hated to miss the Mayberry (Granbury) event this weekend. Oh well, maybe next year.

Adam:
If I'm reading the body tag correctly, I think the TR 932 308 means "S" Club Coupe with green bucket seats and the 48 B PNT is Sherwood Green paint with a black top. The "Z" in the VIN means it was built in Fremont, CA.
Don't you have a car in progress already? Seems like you had a garage full when I bought those bucket seat cores from you about 2 years back. Good luck whatever your plans may be.

Thanks for the input Rodney. Yes, the 69. It's a disease you see.
Why only have one project when you can have more than one?
It really kinda fell in my lap, and it is a way cool car too!
Check out my CL find earlier today... I think I may be in stage three....

Do we we to arrange some kind of intervention?? - LOL. I'm one to talk, I've got 2 cars too, but I'm hoping to build them one at a time.

Went over to finalize the deal today. Took stock of what was there and what
is missing, ran out of time for the most part. Took loose parts out and brought them home to curb any theft. I don't know when I will be able to get back over. Cleaned up the spare a little while ago for fun, it even holds air. Check out the water pump. X marks the spot, nice.
Brought the Q-jet home, wrong, 70 Buick 455. This dist. was in the trunk as well. Anyone know what it fits? #'s are 1111982 9M1. I know it's an Olds unit.

Thanks Kevin, it ran great. On another note, the X water pump cleaned up nice
along with the pulley and harmonic balancer. Didn't have a correct carb so I
rebuilt a 7041252 from a 71 Toro. It will be just fine I believe.

Well, she's home boys. Traffic was a little tough but not as bad as
bolting the pipes up out of the way for the ride. Haven't had a chance
to do or check anything yet, but have ordered the headlight housings and 442 grills
from Fusick. Oh, she does have disc brakes and the parking brakes work well.
More later...

Congrats, on getting it home!!!
Sometimes, I am slow on the uptake, I had forgotten about your new project until you posted today.
Here is a comparison. My body tag Freemont built 4th week of June 1970. (Close to end of model year run ) Unit # less than 1,000 units between mine and yours built in Jan.
