69 vs. 70 Hood.

Hi all, I have a 1969 442 that I would like to put a 1970 w-25 hood on. Other than the front "tooth" that hangs down in the front, I was under the impression that these two years of hoods would interchange. So I bellied up to the counter at Year One this morning to purchase a new hood and the gentleman behind the counter said that the computer told him "Not to sell this hood for a 1969 model". He said that it must not fit. He inquired with one of their technical guys who said that the front ends on these two years of cars is completely different, and that unless I was willing to "chop off the front of my car and replace it with a 70 model" their hood won't work. They order the hood through Glasstek. From what I have gathered from this site and others is that these two years should interchange. I just wanted to get some expert advise before I pull the trigger on a fairly expensive part. Thanks, Mike

The core supports are different, so it will not work.

You will need a 70 core support and associated latching mechanism.

They have different center core support latches.
69 on the left, 70 on the right. As My442 points out.

You'll get much more performance out of the under bumper 69s.

Or, if you really want to be cool, get the repop 69 HO stuff and put the scoop in the middle of the hood.

I was planning to use the hood pins to fasten the hood down and just do away with the latch mechanism. Would the hood physically fit then?
