The easy things:
1) The "W31" decal above the front side marker is for a '69. '68s had only the "Ram Rod" decal behind the marker light.
2) The washer bottle should be on the passenger side.
3) '68s didn't have an aluminum intake.
4) '68s had a "pie tin" air cleaner adornment. The air cleaner lid decal on this car is for a '69 W31.
5) The overflow bottle, while nice, is not factory.
6) I'm pretty darn sure the F-85s had a flat hood, even w/ W31.
7) I don't think that the windshield wiper motor is original.
IMO, this might be a legit '68 Ram Rod, but these things alone make it suspect, certainly not as "original" as claimed, and as such isn't worth the 1/2 million asking. By a long shot.
It better have a mountain of paperwork.

I hate to bash on it. It is a nice car, but...no claim of paper work in the ad. Dash hacked for aftermarket gauges. I don't know if that steering wheel was available on the F-85. Those W-31 decals look terrible. Wrong trunk lid emblem. Non-stock valve cover breather. Hard to tell but the shifter doesn't look correct. Wrong grill. You are correct on the hood, should be flat. For the asking price it should be 100% factory correct.

Didn't you guys see where it says "factory-built drag car"? That's why it has a 4-4-2 grille, an '80s-vintage Hurst shifter, cheesy W-31 decals on a Ramrod car and a prototype '69 air cleaner decal. Jeez, pay attention, will you?

Good one ! How about "lost for many years" and recently uncovered. Stored away in climate controlled building for almost 50 years.
Maybe they are thinking.... "Start high and let the buyer talk you down".

I notice the ad says serious inquires only. Bet he hasn't had any then. The only Olds I can think of that would bring this price (and much higher) is the 54 F88 that sold for somewhere around $4 million. 1953 Fiestas sell for around $200,000. This guy is a dreamer. If this car was original with 1,000 miles on it I don't think it would get close to that price even at Barrett Jackson. Of course I might be wrong as I often am.

"The price is $500,000 that is not a typo"... No, it's Drain Bamage...He's just fishin for a dum dum...No paperwork no deal.
A "numbers car" and I mean down to the hose clamps and factory air in the tires is a 75-100K car...maybe, and only at auction. IMHO of course.
Correct on the Sport hood. It could be had on a Ram Rod if it was ordered as an "S" (4287). This car is supposed to be one of 38 F85 (3277) W31s...then prove it for a 1/2 mil.
Should have an SS1 in the trunk with the tire iron attached in its proper location with the jack base under the tire...if it was originally equipped with SS1s. Clearly this original is not...
