68 Delmont in the latest Hemmings Classic Car

Maybe I missed another post about this, but the latest issue of Hemmings Classic Car has an article about a beautiful 68 Delmont 88 Holiday Coupe that I believe belongs to a member of this forum. It's a great article with lots of good pictures of a fantastic car. Congratulations to the owner for being featured in this magazine. Check it out, it great that our big cars are getting some magazine coverage.

I saw that - beautiful car it is. Very desirable ride!
Too bad Olds did not make more.

Thanks 76Supreme455 that's my car. I wondered if anyone on this forum had seen it in Hemmings, but I didnt want to toot my own horn. Very proud of it and the opportunity to be featured in Hemmings. Good to see a unique car get a little love now and then. Richard Lentinello's camera and eye captured some impressive shots of my car. Best part was I held the sun reflector and was part of the fun.

Back in 1975 my second car and second Olds was a '68 Delta Custom in the same colors as your Delmont, would like to find one like it again. I'll head out tomorrow and pick up copy of Classic Cars.

By chance did your Delta Custom come with a console and bucket seat combo? I'd love to find a set for my car.

Yes it did, buckets, console auto, tilt n telescopic steering, power windows, am/fm w/wonderbar, rimblow steering wheel, enough interior lights for a small city, 455 4bbl, 365hp. Had a Monkey Wards ac added before I got. Titled at 3992lbs and could chirp the tires in the 1-2 upshift, a neat car.

I Would love to have a true set of buckets to replace the bench bucket. I think the buckets would give the car so much more leg room up front with or without a console. The Delmont didnt come with very many options, but I've been able to find and install a clock, under dash courtesy lights, a map light, an Oldsmobile bumper scrip on the back bumper.

Congrats on the print!

I would like to see the article but I subscribe to Hemmings muscle machines, not classic car.

If anyone could scan and post the article,I would love to see the pics and read the print.

Was that in the December issue? I went out today and found the January issue, but it's not in there. (I bought it anyway).

Bucket seats in that car are awesome. Back in 1970 when I was 16, my dad bought me a 1970 Cutlass "S". I drove it until May of 72 when someone pulled in front of me in an intersection and I hit them and went into a ditch and turned over and totaled my 70 Cutlass. My dad took me down to the Olds dealer and was looking at another car for me. They had just traded for a 1968 Delta 88 Custom coupe. It was sort of a teal/turquoise color with a black vinyl top and it had bucket seats with the console with the walnut shift ****. It was a fully loaded Delta Custom with all the toys including the 455. Well, the short version of the story, I wanted a Cutlass again (didn't get it, I ended up with my dad's 68 98 Holiday sedan and he bought a new 72 98), but I can remember how neat that car was inside and spacious it was with bucket seats and console. Man, how I wish I had that car now! Really enjoyed the story about your car!!

Yes it was in Dec 09, which was last months magazine. I tried to scan the article but it comes out too small for a thumb nail photo.

I've been looking for a set of buckets but no luck. Will A body seats work if I change the seat tracks? Or is a B-body seats wider???? I seen a good pair at the Turkey Rod Run this year. But I think they were for a Cutlass. I've have looked at B-body Chevys and Pontiacs trying to find a set, That would be a cool change for my car.

Heck, I would be tootin' it if I were you!
Congrats! Makes me want to look at it again! I kinda like the Hemmings magazines (aside from the motor news one).

Whew - finally hit that 2000 post mark!
(I wonder when one earns "blabbermouth" status?? )
