68 cutlass

will 69 hinges work with my 68 hood .I am looking at a set of 69 fenders. my drivers fender is full of bondo and I can find is a 69

The 69 hinges have to be modified because the hole spacing for the hood bolts is close but different by about 1/4". Most 69 fenders either already have the holes for a 68 pattern (but maybe not backer nuts) or can be modified for 68 hinges so you really can go either way

thanks 68 hinges are hard to find and mine are shot hood will not lay down at the hinges

Before you buy a pair of hinges take off the springs and see if the hinge is either very loose or binding. If it's binding it can probably be fixed. If it's really loose you're probably better off with a new set.
