67 Cutlass
We store our 67 Cutlass in the garage and it always has a gas smell. Pretty sure its just the Classic Car smell, nothing leaking that I can see. How can we get rid of the smell?
Should I order a non vented gas cap? Would that help or mess up anything?

Remove the air cleaner and look to see if there is gas dripping down the carb after you turn it off. Check the rubber vent lines and vent that runs from the fuel tank up behind the rear bumper. Also look at the rubber lines from the fuel tank to the main steel line and the rubber fuel line to the pump at the engine. Look for leaks in the main steel line along the frame.

As said, all rubber hoses are suspect. Verify the fuel pump isn't pumping gasoline out the fuel pump vent hole.
Beyond that, you could add a charcoal canister, then vent the gas tank into the canister instead of venting to atmosphere. Of course, the canister has to be purged by the carb or manifold fittings. You'd have to duplicate the system used on the canister-donor vehicle.

My car had same issues, eventually the leaks materialized on the floor. It was the hoses that fellow members mention. The rubber does not show the damage easily. Once removed and folded over you could see the cracks caused by age.
