67 442 very noisy convertible top
Hi,
I've got a nice 67 442 convertible with a new top, and I just about need earplugs to drive the thing at highway speeds. The flopping noise is incredibly loud. The top is very taught and looks like it was installed well. Doesn't flop as much with the windows closed it seems. My original 67 442 ragtop didn't make this noise.
Not really sure about how to go about fixing this.
The car is pretty low and level with the ground and I'm thinking a low-pressure area is being created and making it flap like crazy. Maybe raising the rear end some might have some effect.
Anybody have issues like this and figured out a solution?
Thanks
Dave

I have similar with my Jeep Wrangler soft top. I discovered that the top flops a lot with no vent or AC, but turning on the fan or AC (normal, not max or recirc) pressurizes the interior so the top “balloons” and doesn’t flop. I saw this on another Jeep on the highway and it clicked with me.
