There is a really nice 66 98 on eBay restored but the engine and air cleaner are gold. Weren't they red?

 

As to the best of my knowledge they were not available with a 330...so they shouldn't be gold, unless of course a previous person just painted the 425 gold.

A 1966 98 could only have a 425, and it could only be painted red.

So someone repainted them with the wrong color. People get hung up on paint color. That can be changed. If you are concerned about the engine, check the block casting number.

 

The color is actually a red-orange. The Fusick red is not correct for the 425. I dont know of anyone who produces the correct color.

 

That is one sweet 98!! Looks like who ever ordered it just told the salesman to check off everything!! It even has the tempmatic a/c & the speed sentinal! It's a shame someone did such a half-*** incorrect spray bomb job under the hood on such a nice car, but like joe said that can be changed.
