From the look of the cowl tag your car is an early production for the 66 model year

07B - Month / week build code at Fisher (second week of July 1965)
ST 66 - 1966 model year
3 - Oldsmobile
38 - f85 (in this case it's a Cutlass Supreme) with V8
17 - 2 door Hardtop coupe
LAN - Lansing production
Body number: 29848 (assigned by fisher; not related to VIN)
Trim 980 B: Black themed vinyl interior with bucket seats
Paint M - 2: Autumn Bronze with black vinyl roof

The 'options' should be:

Column 2
L = Floor 4spd - (M20 or M21)
G = Console - (D55)
R = Rear Shelf Speaker - (U80)

Column 4
F = (guessing) Remote outside mirror

Column 5
V = 442 trim
Y = Deluxe front and rear seat belts (A39)

You are too good Allan R except the July '65 part, it should be July '66

You sure Scot? If the car was being built in July, it would be during 1965 for the 66 model year right? IIRC the cutoff for 65 production would be the end of June back then?? So that's why I said early 66 production. If it had been built in July of 1966 it should be 67 model year production..... Do you know for sure if that Column 4 F is the mirror? It was my best guess based on what the codes could change to from 65 and 67.

It is July '66

29848 = Fisher Body Unit # (this would be the 29848th 2dr hardtop body at Lansing, further proof that it is July '66)

If this is the cowl tag from the eBay car,be careful. The protecto plate he has is for the 400 engine,not the car.

He states in the auction that he has title & p-o-p from the car the engine was from. That car was a Cutlass based 442 hardtop (338176M22777?) - "target red" with red buckets.

The above body tag is appropriate for 338176M419560 with a July '66 build date.

Ranzan,

What work was left on it? Was it full of body filler? Frame good? I see it went for $4,000. , but not sure he actually sold it. Guessing he outbid the highest bidder himself cause he didn't get what he wanted. Anyway, did you look at the car?

The car was listed on craigs too and I was gonna give the guy a call, until he answered my question on the p-o-p. I still might call him just to see what he would take.

Dom

When i was looking at it the trunk still needed to have the floors installed but did come with the purchase

fenders had the lower dog legs repaired everything else was how it is now minus the 400 with the POP

the car was 3500 but probably could have picked it up for 2800
it would make a good project but since i was looking a more drivable car i passed
