If you can document it its one of 109, 3427s made for 65. Of course that number doesnt break down further to seperate 3 on the floor or on the tree.

Dearborn trans didn't come out till mid-year. Look at build date on the data plate. If it's 12D or earlier chances are car is legit.

There was a thread on these cars couple weeks back.

You got that backwards didn't you? Did you mean 12D and later?

No, earlier. The Saginaw three speed with column shift was the normal three-on-the-tree trans. The Dearborn HD three speed used the Hurst floor shifter.

I know the 3 on the tree was available on a 66 442 with the Dearborn & I'm thinking it was also available in 65. It was discontinued either during the 66 model year or @ the end of the 66 model year. Maybe Jasen will clear this up.

Mike, wouldn't be the first time I got something backwards, but yes, I meant earlier based on the Dearborn 3-speed becoming available mid-year. As Joe P noted up till then the column-shifted Saginaw 3-speed was standard equipment.

That thread Diego started a few days ago on 1965 3-speed cars brought up a piece of literature I'd never paid that close attention to. I had thought all 65 3-speed cars were floor shift whether they had Saginaw or top-loader.

lol, that reminds me of learning to drive a manual. It was one of my dads old work vans with a column shift manual. That was an interesting experience.

I bought one on ebay for 35 bucks, really not much demand for them. Had a hard time finding a yoke, dont know if they are GM special or a standard ford part. A lot of people swap em with a 4speed.
