64 Olds 98...worth?
64 Olds 98...worth?
Wish I had my camera!
All orig. Driving car, including the paint. Needs TLC but minor cosmetic stuff.
I know this is not a lot to work with, but since I have no idea about these cars, approx what is worth? The seller was asking 3000$
Any input would be great!
Thanx,
Ted
Original motor, the seller says...has duals
One feature I thought was cool, was handles in the back of the front seats.
And on the glove box was,I think, 'luxury sedan'
Did have the opera window, at the back and I guess it was the 394.?
4door

Sounds like a fair price to me. Yes, "Luxury Sedan" was one of the versions of the 98 available that year. It was a four-door hardtop, and it was distinguished by having an extra, triangular side window behind the rear door window on each side.
Here's a photo of a '64 98 Luxury Sedan.

As far as value, the Old Cars Price Guide lists the value of one of these in #4 condition (runs and drives but needs total restoration) at $3800. The car you're talking about sounds better than this, and the price is less than this. So as I said, the price sounds reasonable, at least as far as the OCPG is concerned.
Also, yes, the engine would be the 394. That was the standard and only engine offered on the full-size Oldsmobiles (except the Jetstar 88, which is another story!) that year.
