64 88 mechanical fuel pump "Out of luck"
I was just told by my supply store they do not carry mechanical fuel pumps anymore...just electric. I want to stay with the mechanical pump!
Can anyone lead me to a supplier who can provide me with one. I called AC and Airtex but they only sell to distributors. Maybe I am old school...evryone says go electric. I currently have a electric pump because the mechanical crapped out late last summer and I wanted something quick to get a few more weeks of driving.
If I were to go electric, what happens to the mechanical pump? Do I need to change anything on the carb? And now the stupid question....what controls fuel flow?
Sorry for the Jr high questions but I have a limited budget and have already purchased other parts for spring projects that are vital for the engine i.e. timing chain and water pump gaskets and a complete tune up kit.

USA Parts Supply shows them in their catalog.

Fusick has them too, full size catalog.

I just checked their online catalog, it does not appear that they have fuel pumps for the 394. They offer a rebuilding service for a couple of part numbers, you may want to give them a call. 860-623-1589

Both Fusicks and USA Parts supply offer a rebuilding service. A pain. They both carry 65 pumps for $ 45. ( missed it by 1 year) For some reason I wasn't worried all winter regarding availability. Got to do some budget work!! ( no flowers for the little lady this year ha ha)
Thanks for the leads. Looks like I will be sending it out. But if anyone knows of a company that has them in stock pls give me shout

You won't find many, if any, places that stock these. I'm leery of one that's been sitting on the shelf awhile too- modern fuels can destroy the diaphrams in less than 100 miles.
Send your core off and have it rebuilt using ethanol-resistant materials. Yes, a little aggravation, but a fact of modern life with a non-mainstream old car.

I spoke to Fusicks and they have a better price then USA parts. They have rebuilt in stock and designed for todays crap fuel. I have the pump out and will send it to them for a core deposit. Thanks all for your advice.
