'64 394 to a '50 Hydramatic

What is required to use a '50 Hydramatic behind a '64 394 that had a Slim Jim. Or is it possible even with adapters?

Tedd or Charlie will probably speak up on this since they are well versed in these old transmissions and hookup to later engines.

A google search for vintage Olds speed and drag racing equipment will probably unearth something, since B&M's famous Hydros were often based on early HydraMatics and 394 ruled the Gasser classes in early 1960s.

Any reason you want the early HMT over a Jetaway?

The engine block will bolt right up to the trans.
The flywheel is the problem. 394's had an offset balanced flywheel.
A considerable amount of weight must be added to the '50 flywheel, in the right location, and the engine re-balanced for it to work.
Also one of the flywheel to crank bolts on the 394 is offset.
So that, the flywheel can be mounted in only one position on the crank.
You will need to double drill one hole so it lines up, and then make sure the extra weight added to the flywheel is clocked correctly.
49 thru 53 flywheels are 145 teeth. 394 flywheels are either 176 or 166 teeth (depending on year).
So you will need to run a 49 thru 53 lower bellhousing and starter.

He will need the 53 starter since it is 12 volts.

Yeah, he will probably need 12 volts to turn over a high compression 394.
