'61 Oldsmobile Starfire?

Hey all, I just read a story here in the Topeka Crapital Journal, and one of the photos is a car that was presented to Governor Anderson. Someone had suggested this may be a '61 Starfire? Anyway, I figured someone here could identify it from a photo. Anyway, here are the pics...one is of the car, and the other is of Governor Anderson, along with Mark Felt, who was later identified as "Deep Throat" in the Nixon/Watergate scandal. Anyway, thought it was kind of interesting.

That definitely is a '61 Starfire.

Here's the '61 from that year's Olds brochure.

The '61 Starfire, by the way, which was the first of that '61 to '66 era of Starfires, was not its own series. It was a high-end offering in the Super 88 line called the Super 88 Starfire. It was a "limited edition" model, and it was offered only as a convertible. In spite of its limited-edition-ness, production totaled 7,600, which was pretty good for any full-size Olds convertible through the '60s, and it beat out the '61 Super 88 convertible, which saw production of only 2,624, by quite a bit. With that kind of demand, it's no surprise that Olds advanced it to its own series starting in 1962 and brought out a coupe version as well.
