5 speed richmond or tko 600
hey guys, i am researching a trans for my 57 chevy and have decided on the richmond super street 5 speed with over drive or the tko 600 from liberty with shifting mods as i know there is a problem with shifting past 6500rpm. anyone know anything about the richmond? car will have a 434sbc 4.11 gear

Don't know much about either tranny, but seems most are going TKO lately, as a more modern design, and probably better parts availibility. Keisler conversions uses nothing but TKO's, and must be a reason. Maybe give them a call and see why. Also, you probably already know, but Classic Industries is always sending me 20% off notices on restoration parts, and believe there's one going now.

Prior to making my decision between the tko-600 and the Richmond super 5, I drove a Chevelle with the Richmond installed. I didn't like it....at all. Noisy(even compared to a M-22), rough shifting, expensive. Went with the TKO-600 behind my 455.....NEVER a missed shift(altho never go above 6250) and quiet as a church mouse. The shifter is as smooth as glass.
I'd go with the TKO.
