455 flush

car has been sitting for about 12 years so i drained radiator and pulled it out and sent it to radiator shop to be boiled out and freshened up. next i pulled lower hose and that looked ok. i pulled upper hose and t stat housing above t stat was full of dried soft powder{old dried fluid?}. pulled t stat housing and t stat and inside of intake was pretty loaded with white goo? i am replacing heater core and want to flush motor out, what is the best procedure for this and the best cleaner to use? thanks guys...
