455 Engine to Trans Bolt Size?
Need quick reality check...Out on the road picking up a parts car that I need to strip on site for the 455...Cars in the middle of nowhere so I have to stop at a local hardware store before hiking into back woods. And of course I neglected to bring the bolts for the enegine stand...dauh!
Does anyone know off the top of their head what the bolt size is that holds the trans to the block?
Need to bolt this engine to the stand for transport.
7/16 x 14NC or 1/2 x 13 NC...hell to get old...

Just checked the bolts in the engine stand used while assembling my 455, and they're 3/8 x 16 NC. Micrometer shows a bit over .370. While all stands are different, my bolts are 3-1/2" long. Of course, you're wanting grade 5 bolts or better. Good luck.

as Delta said all stands are different. I dont have my stand here at the house but if I recall it uses 5" or 5.5" bolts. I remember they are longer than the ones in the bolt bin at the shop and I had to go to the hardware store to get some.

You guys rock thanks! Got messages while standing in hardware store Had 7/16 in hand...
Delta its a 69 Delta with 63K on the clock thats getting cut up. Very little is usable. The engine Im keeping the rest is up for grabs...though there isnt much metal left it is a whole car. Been sitting outside in the NE since 1982! Moss growing on carpets! Power windows no A/C. The tranny fluid is pink. Service records show its a true 63K
Everyone let me know your needs before the rest goes to the crusher.
