442 without trim plate

I am looking at a 1970 442 455/365 HP real 442,344 car. Except that the trim plate is missing. Looked all over, can't find it. The car has no build sheet, nor an invoice. Can I still match the exterior color the car was borne with? Can I still verify the engine and transmission are original to the car without the plate? I know that I can identify the engine year and heads through the cylinder block. I knoe the heads are E heads. But, can I verify the original engine and transmission through the VIN number. Same question for the paint. To my knowledge, the vin does not disclose the original color. Am I in trouble or is there a way? Thank you for your help.

Trim tag is a Fisher Body tag. Will tell you build plant, week of month built, exterior color, interior color, and possibly some options. Engine and trans VIN derivative should match VIN tag.
