442 numbers

When mounting the numbers to the fenders and trunk, should anything be put between body and number?

No. Oldsmobile just put them on the fender and put the nuts on the back side. Just don't over tighten the nuts. They only need to snug the emblems to the fender, not poke it into the paint.

No, there was nothing from the factory. You might want to use a small dab of seam sealer at each hole to seal any chipped paint.

Am I the only proponent of using grease as a rust preventative agent in applications such as this? I always apply grease with an old toothbrush to the back of trim.
