Question 442 dot com gone?

Anyone else having trouble getting into the site? I keep getting a TCP error. Did Bryceman finally throw in the towel?

It just worked for me. That site goes down frequently for hours at a time.

Pretty sure Bryceman hasn't had anything to do with that site in about 7-8 years... It just worked for me, by the way.

My understanding is that Brothers owns the site now.

Right, what I heard was that they were picking off the good parts + cars and reselling or stocking them. After all, they would have first shot at everything.

Humm. I can get to the front pages but not into the links such as FAQ etc...comes up as a tcp error. Interesting note about Bryceman. You'd think with a company now owning the site they'd up date it some so it has some more modern features such as editing and a better search. I have never had success with it in all the years Ive used the site. Over all it its the grand dad of 442 sites and does have a wealth of info...if I could only get into it. Im at work maybe their firewall is Ford or Chevy friendly.

I'd love to buy the domain name from them and get the design a little more up to date :-)

The relationship between Bryce Smith and Brothers go way back...below is a nastygram I received from him after reporting the results (and then reposting it after it was deleted) of my one and only experience buying from BAP (back in Y2K). I didn't bother writing back to call BS, even when I was informed shortly afterwards that even back then he and BAP were "in cahoots".

What a jackwagon. I just tried it and it is down. This site has to have some value with the name it has.

Unfortunately, liability concerns like this are all too real. The AACA forum has a similar policy, implemented by their legal counsel, not an advertiser.

So others are having trouble and some are not? I was thinking it was a IP problem, cookie problem or a port problem. Just started out of nowhere. Transmission Control Protocol probs are usually firewall or server problems or one or the other sides. There isn't a code associated with it which is further confusing? I was able to get at the home page earlier today but nothing below that. I tried to play around with cookie settings now I cant even that. Ill try it at home maybe its works firewall?

I know it was years ago, but Bryce wasn't quite truthful. Generally speaking, he wasn't liable for third party comments he took no part in under what's known as a Section 230 that's been around since 1996. In my opinion, Bryce was acting like a total douchebag with all his threats about exposing a member's info. I thought he was better than that. Maybe I was wrong.

Haven't been to 442.com in years. Don't see a reason to start now. Especially now.

No, it's still there. Some days it runs pretty fast, but some days it takes forever for a page to load.
