Building a 1965 425 bb want to paint it close to original red. Anyone have any suggestions on aresol shake can ? I used chevy orange red but not sure if it is red enough.

 

I use Ford red mainly because everyone sells it and it's cheap, like me.

 

I got aerosol cans of Oldsmobile red from Fusick.

 

Is there much differince between ford and oldsmobile ? Ford red is available at nappa

 

I have disassembled about 5 425's and the majority of the remaining paint was on the valve covers and block crevasses. None looked red but a red-orange. Don't know if this is due to age and and grease or the paint was not actually red. I have not found a supplier of the paint color I saw and these non toro 425's.

 

Try Chrysler Industrial Red. I think it's close to the Oldsmobile red.

 

VHT makes a great high temp engine enamel SP119 Chevy Orange-Red. Damn close to original!
