403 engine demand

Is there very much demand for the 403 engine these days? I may be picking up a 65K mile car that has one and just wondering these days if there is much market for them. I know they are the windowed web blocks so huge HP is not happening with them but just curious more then anything.

I would think there’s demand since they provide massive torque in a stock small block platform. But then again with all the newcomers who expect a numbers matching drivetrain in a 50 year old plain jane Cutlass, maybe not as much as I would expect.

From what I read here and other places, I think there is. They make great street motors as long as you don't rev them over something like 5 grand. If I still had my 72 Cutlass convertible, it is what I would build.

There are Trans Ams as well out there looking for 403's to match what they originally came with.

Idk if there is much demand but I like them, I’m running two and have one extra block. I’m sure I’d keep buying if I find more at the right price.

I would say yes. It seems to me after the 455 it's one of the most enthusiastically talked about Olds engines... regardless of its weaknesses. People constantly want to build them up.

I second this. I couldn't locate a 403 and still looking for months. For every 10 455 Olds I see for sale locally , there seems to be only 1 403. I put in a 455 but would have liked to stick with 403 due to bracketry and shaker changes. Plus since the general consensus is to not go over .40 bore cause of thin walls, hard to find useable cores.
