400..sell or keep?

The 400 that came in my 68 442 is torn down, stacked under my work bench.
I need opinions on whether or not it is important to keep with the car if and when the car is ever sold.
I replaced the 400, with a 455 and never plan on putting the 400 back into the car.
Should I sell or keep?

Thanks,
Ted

keep it

A numbers matching engine should always stay with the car.

Keep it. I've got a 400G stuffed under my work bench and it isn't even the numbers matching block

Keep it! Will add more value to your car later if you ever sell rather than what you can get separately for it now.

You need to keep it. Resale will be more with it. The bigger issue will be desirability. The higher value is not huge but desirability is huge. If for some reason you needed to sell it because of some unforeseen event it will be MUCH easier to sell if you have the original engine. Even more so on a 68-69 because 400 engines are very hard to find.

It's entirely up to you. If you don't have the room or your not worried about what the future may bring, get rid of it.

yes times 100
I agree with what you are doing I running 455s as I am doing the same w one if not two of mine 68/69 400 cars.
Plain and simple just not the greatest motor
Also even know in 68 most made 442s , try finding a G block easy

If you sell it, it will be to someone trying to put a correct engine back into their 442.

On another note. You could sell the car now as an original car and get a Cutlass much less and then original don't mean as much.

Hang onto to it Ted.
Iv'e got a 455 built for my
69 442. But the G block is sitting in the
corner anyway. I know you have the room.

IMO its would be a sin to get rid of it. Hang on to it for the next guy that might want to put it back original.

Thanks for the replies...just ask and you shall receive...that is what I like about CO

Next question is should I put the engine back together.? I would be looking at around 1500to 2000$....or is the fact that I have it good enough.....

Must be a regional shortage, in my area the seem to be plentiful.

My opinion leave it as is just keep it from getting rusty...no sense spending cash on something you are not gonna use...

I'd just keep it oiled up and dry.
